Just Another Halo Victory

Featured! (Game, team or player we are into today)

Angels beat the Red Sox 7-6 and move on to the ALCS!

Ok, not just another victory. This was huge! (that’s what she said*) If you’re an Angels fan like me, you know that the Angels and Red Sox have history. The “classy” Red Sox brought in Dave Henderson to throw out the first pitch for good luck before Game 3 of the ALDS and a nice little reminder of 1986 when Henderson helped bring back the Red Sox from the brink of elimination with a home run off relief pitcher Donnie Moore. The Angels were one pitch away from going to the World Series, but with that home run, Henderson tied the game and the Red Sox won in extra innings. The series went back to Boston and the Angels lost both games there and the series. While the Red Sox chose to live in the past, the Angels lived in the present all the way to the top of the ninth inning when they scored 3 runs with 2 outs to beat the Red Sox 7-6. Maybe the Angels should thank Boston for the reminder – it’s not over til it’s over!

Bring on the Yankees! Game 1 is this Friday.

*Exactly how bad is it if you’re at a wedding and the groom is having trouble putting the ring on the bride’s finger, the priest says “push a little harder” and I say under my breadth “that’s what she said!”

Impress! (Facts and figures to impress your date or mate)

Next time you meet a Red Sox fan, ask them about Bill Buckner, but be prepared to lose a limb. The Red Sox were up 3 games to 2 in the 1986 World Series against the Mets. Game 6 went to the bottom of the 10th with Boston up by 3. But poor pitching helped the Mets tie the game and then a ground ball to Buckner, which should have been an easy out, rolled under his glove and the Mets ended up winning Game 6. The Mets went on to win the World Series in Game 7.
